Reports of KKK advertising have been reported in Clifton. These advertisements were sandwich bags with photocopied contact information and rice that could be thrown from a car or dropped by a walker. Two of the locations include the public library and the drive-thru of one of the banks. At this time the incidents appear to target public places that will provide exposure to jump-start conversations by local residents. We do not believe the items are local in origin, especially with news reports of neighboring communities receiving similar advertisements. Residents are asked to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to either the village office (815) 694-2273 or the Iroquois County Sherriff’s Police Non-Emergency Number (815) 432-4918.
