Golf Cart Registration Expired

If you have not registered your golf cart yet this spring/summer, it is expired and should not be driven on village streets. Violations will be ticketed so call the village office at 815.694.2273, email Chief Lehmkuhl at jim.lehmkuhl@cliftonillinois.com, or Police & Public Safety Committee Chair at joe.kolosky@cliftonillinois.com, to schedule an appointment for inspection and registration.

The following items are required to operate a golf cart within the village limits:
Lights
Brake Lights
Turn Signals
Slow Moving Vehicle Sign
Red/Orange Flag at least 6 ft high
Rearview Mirror
Proof of CURRENT Insurance
Driver’s License
A registration sticker will NOT be issued if the cart does not have this working equipment.
ALL Illinois Rules of the Road must be obeyed while operating the cart which includes having a valid driver’s license and insurance.
Per the village slow moving vehicle ordinance, "Persons found to be in violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be subject to the penalties provided for in Section 1-4-1 of the Village Code...". Section 1-4-1 of the Village Code states, "Any person convicted of a violation of any section or provision of this Village Code, where no other penalty is set forth, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) for any one offense."
